Our Mission

The primary purpose of Lindsay Thurber is to attain high levels of learning for all. We are a safe and positive community promoting mutual respect and acceptance.

 

École Secondaire Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School is a recently renovated school which offers a wide variety of programs and opportunites for approximately 1800 students in Grades 9 to 12. We offer one of the best selections of courses available in the province in a facility second to none.  From French Immersion to Raider Athletics, from International Baccalaureate to Knowledge and Employability, from Advanced Fabrication to Cosmetology, from Fine Arts to Student Leadership - Lindsay Thurber is a truly unique school with a diverse array of courses and programs.
 

Helping each student to know that they are welcome and that they belong at Lindsay Thurber is important to us. Developing a sense of confidence and competence towards learning is what motivates our classroom practice. Lindsay Thurber is a place where students are heard, honoured, and belong.

Languages

We open doors to the world!
We are a hub for language and culture offering a full French Immersion program as well as second language instruction in English, French, Japanese, Spanish and German. We are currently hosting over 20 International students and have an active International Student Association. Our students also have the opportunity to participate in student exchange trips to Japan and France.

                     

Fine Arts

We’ve got our A, B, C, Ds  mastered!
Our fine arts department boasts high-class facilities in which we offer outstanding programs in Art, Band, Choir, Dance, and Drama. Between frequent concerts and performances and displays of talent, students in our fine arts programs receive a high-quality education and gain valuable experiences.

Programs

We’ve got it covered from IB to RAP!
Students can enroll in everything from our International Baccalaureate program to our Registered Apprentice Program. We also offer Foundations, Pathways, Strategies, Knowledge and Employability and Work Experience programs. In our Career and Technology Courses, students can do everything from Autobody to Welding, from Animation to Communication Technology and from Cosmetology to Design Studies. We strive to offer programs that meet student needs and provide a high-quality education leading to success for all students.

We’ve got a club or team for everyone!
Lindsay Thurber has a long history of excellence in our athletics program. There are also many clubs and opportunities for students to get involved and broaden their high school experience. We have fantastic football, volleyball, basketball, cross-country, wrestling, golf, badminton, track, tennis and soccer teams. We encourage all students to get involved!!
