Zone 4W Drama Festival

DRAMA FESTIVAL

A huge congrats to all of the Thurber students who participated in the Zone 4W Drama Festival this past weekend. They represented our school with professionalism and excellence on and offstage, and took away the following awards:

  • Honourable Mention in Sound Design to Chris Streibel for I Am Not Batman
  • Honourable Mention in Lighting Design to Shelby Wiley for The Bald Soprano
  • Honourable Mention for Best Technical Production for I Am Not Batman
  • Honourable Mention for Best Ensemble for Elephant’s Graveyard
  • Best Costume Design Award to Brooke Klugkist for Elephant’s Graveyard
  • Best Student Director to Emma Guido for The Bald Soprano
  • Acting Honourable Mentions to Cassidy Hackl for The Bald Soprano and Elephant’s Graveyard, and Sydney Makarenko for Elephant’s Graveyard
  • Acting Awards to Yaya Sankoh for Elephant’s Graveyard, Rachel Collings for The Bald Soprano, Max Vesely for The Bald Soprano, Jaret Pack for The Bald Soprano and Elephant’s Graveyard, and Aaron Refugio for The Dumb Waiter and I Am Not Batman.

Out of 26 plays from six high schools, only 2 advance to Provincials, and this year BOTH of those plays are from Thurber: The Bald Soprano and I Am Not Batman will be showcased at the Provincial Festival at the RDC Arts Centre this week!
