Jennifer Mann is currently in her sixteenth year as Director of Instrumental Music at Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School in Red Deer. Prior to her move to Lindsay Thurber, Jennifer taught at Central, Westpark, and Eastview Middle Schools all in Red Deer.
The ensembles under Jennifer's direction have consistently achieved superior ratings at the local, provincial and national level. The LTCHS Symphonic Band received Gold Awards at MusicFest 2004 in Richmond, BC, the Atlantic Band Festival 2008 in Halifax, NS, and the New York City Festival of Music in 2013. Many of her groups have also received scholarships at the Red Deer Festival of Performing Arts and Superior Awards at the Alberta Band Association Provincial Festival of Bands.
Jennifer is a graduate of the University of Calgary (BMus – Secondary Education, Ed. Cert.). In July, 2013, Jennifer participated in the University of Toronto Wind Conducting Symposium. She has also taken graduate-level courses in music technology, recruiting and retention and web design through the VanderCook College Music Education Center of America in Chicago. She has taught private flute lessons at the Red Deer College Conservatory of Music and she has been a flute clinician for the RDC Adventures in Summer Music Program. She is frequently in demand as a guest conductor. She has performed as a member of the University of Calgary Wind Ensemble and Red Deer College Symphonic Winds. Jennifer served six years as a Board Member of the Alberta Band Association. In 2005, Jennifer was inducted into the prestigious international band master fraternity, Phi Beta Mu. In 2012, Jennifer was a finalist for an Alberta Education Excellence in Teaching Award.
Jennifer is married to Michael (also a band director) and they have two sons, Zachary (19) and Aaron (17).
