It is with gratitude and excitement that I introduce myself as the Principal of Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School. I am honoured to be entrusted with this role and look forward to the year ahead!
Although I grew up in Central Alberta, my journey in education began in Virginia, where I studied Education, began teaching, and started raising our family. We later returned to Alberta, and for the past 26 years I have been privileged to serve within Red Deer Public Schools.
I was previously a Vice Principal at Lindsay Thurber, and from the start this school felt like home. Two of our children are also proud Thurber graduates, giving me the perspective of both an administrator and a parent. I can confidently say that Thurber is a caring and inclusive school, offering countless opportunities for students to get involved and thrive as Raiders.
I am so grateful to return as Principal and to work alongside our staff, students, parents, and community! Together, we will continue to build a school where students are inspired to learn with purpose today and step forward as leaders tomorrow.

Welcome to the New School Year!
My name is Lauren Dempster, and I’m excited to join the Lindsay Thurber team as the Grade 10 Administrator for the future graduates of 2027! With 15 years of experience working with Red Deer Public, including 5 years as a Vice Principal, I’m eager to bring my experience and enthusiasm to our school community.
Outside of school, I’m a proud parent to two amazing children, Merrick and Adelaide. My family and I enjoy spending our summers on the water as well as camping and playing various sports.
